Best soup EVER…{so says my man}

photo-14-2If you know me well, you know I’m not the best when it comes to cooking up new things in the kitchen…well actually cooking anything in the kitchen. We’re starting off the new year eating healthy and trying new paleo recipes for the entire family. Tonight my friends, I hit it out of the park. My husbands words were, “this may be the best soup I’ve ever eaten.” Now I know it was “just” soup, but it was dang good!

Just thought I’d share this healthy delicious recipe incase any of you are interested. There are many ways you can tweek this and I’m sure more ingredients you could add. I’m a firm believer in keeping it simple. Hope you enjoy!

Sausage & Spinach Soup

1 medium{ish} chopped onion

dash of crushed red pepper

1 lb smoked sausage

4 minced garlic gloves

4 cups of chicken broth

2 cups of baby spinach

1-2 tsps of chopped basil

Fresh cut squash {I got a quart sized bag out of the freezer and added it to the soup}

Cook sausage {in a little water} until brown. Cut into bit size slices.

Sauté onion, garlic, red pepper, and a little salt. Add broth, sausage, and squash. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Add spinach to the soup and cook for about 2 minutes or until the spinach is wilted.

Promises of God

So…it’s been a while since I’ve blogged. A year has flown by and lots has happened around the Bice household. Amidst the small everyday happenings, we have relocated Greenbriar Church {our church} into a permanent post and added a new addition to our home. Baby girl #3 is healthy and just perfect in our eyes, but has wrecked my 8 hour sleep schedule {don’t feel sorry for me…she’s worth it!}.

I have something I want to share with you. Our ladies at church are going through The Patriarch by Beth Moore and we have been looking at the promises of God, focusing now on Abraham and Sarah. Inspired by our small group discussion, I created a printable of a few of God’s promises. It’s been very encouraging to me to have this visible in my home. Feel free to print it and enjoy hanging on to HIS promises daily.

A Conference You Can’t Miss…

You may know by now that I have been blessed to be a part of an amazing group of women across the U.S. A few years back, God led me to a ministry Leading & Loving It. These pastor’s wives {are you ready for this}…ARE ALOT LIKE ME! Yes, this group is full of Super Sanguine women, who adore their man, LOVE the Lord, and have a HUGE heart for PW’s and women in ministry. It was love at first email :). Well, they understand the obstacles of getting to conferences therefore, they’ve created one that is impossible to miss. Read below…
The JustONE Conference is back!

Need encouragement … challenge … connection … and inspiration? All while sitting comfortably on your couch with a latte in hand?

The JustONE Conference is a free virtual conference for all Pastors’ Wives and Women in Ministry. This 4 week conference will include over 20 speakers sharing from their personal lives and leadership. Each session will be shown 4 times during the week. So find a time that is right for your schedule, and join in!

This year the conference is based on a beautiful passage of scripture, 1 Timothy 4:12b-16  (The Message) “Teach believers with your life: by word, by demeanor, by love, by faith, by integrity. Stay at your post reading Scripture, giving counsel, teaching. And that special gift of ministry you were given when the leaders of the church laid hands on you and prayed–keep that dusted off and in use. Cultivate these things. Immerse yourself in them. The people will all see you mature right before their eyes! Keep a firm grasp on both your character and your teaching. Don’t be diverted. Just keep at it. Both you and those who hear you will experience salvation.”

The conference begins Monday, January 23 and Tuesday, January 24 and is offered both morning and evening… 11am EST/ 8am PST and 9pm EST/ 6pm PST both days.  Join us for four consecutive weeks of teaching, encouragement and connection.

Movie Night

Friday the Women of Greenbriar were able to be a part of something amazing. Lisa Arnold came and shared her latest project, “Letting Go”. Lisa is a good friend of Mandy’s so we were able to hear a little of her story & how God has used her over the years. God has taken Lisa and her family from our small town of Albany, and placed them in Mandeville, LA, where she is actively involved with the Worship & Arts ministry at Church of the King.

We transformed our den here at home into a home theater room, and about 25 women pilled in for this movie premier. Aside from the free T’s and the Ultimate Chocolate Chip n Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar we thoroughly enjoyed one another’s company. I think it’s safe to say that Lisa and her ministry touched us all in some way.  Be on the lookout for this movie and be in prayer for my new friend Lisa. If you are involved with women’s ministry I encourage you to contact Lisa & share this with your ladies.

Be Blessed…

and she named it Abandon…then abide

Last night I received a bbm from a good friend of mind asking me about something that was to much to bbm. I called her back immediately and she didn’t answer.  She then bbm’d me back to tell me she was in church and would call me later. As I laughed at her multi-tasking she proceeded to send me messages. She promised she was listening and began telling me about what she was hearing. Here is what she shared…

“Matthew, Mark & Luke’s perspective is completely different than John’s. The first 3 focus on abandoning all to become a follower. Literally, they left their nets & cloaks to follow Jesus. John wrote his gospel to show us how to stick with it once you’ve abandoned and encourages us to disciple others and grow. Abandon…then abide.” Hmmm, never thought of it that way.

She ended the message with this; “Blackberry Messenger=Bible study note taking device.”

Gotta LOVE Friends like that! Thanks Laney

Be Blessed…

Hello world!

Hello World…although the generic WordPress blog title, I find it fitting for my 1st blog. This IS a new world to me. I am Jaye Bice, wife of Pastor Tim Bice and mother of 3 AMAZING children. I am an educator and in my spare time I dabble in photography. We planted our church Greenbriar Church September 2008, so you can only imagine what these past few years of our lives have been like. My prayers and desires for this blog are to help other women in ministry connect with someone who either has been or is going down the same path they are. God has placed several amazing women in my life (some don’t even know it) and I hope to learn how to align myself to HIS will, not mine. Hope you enjoy…
